Minors’ safety and minimum age

Minimum age

  • Broadcasting a live: 18 or older. Hahoowa is for adults: when you sign up, you certify that you are 18 or older. If your account has not confirmed it yet, you are asked the first time you go live. If you say you are under 18, you cannot start a live.
  • Topping up your balance and spending it: 18 or older. Gifts, super chats, boosting a live, subscriptions and series, video orders: if your account has not confirmed your age yet, you are asked before your first spend. A visitor without an account can buy or send nothing.
  • Watching a live: 13 or older. A signed-in account can watch. Without an account, you are asked for your month and year of birth once: the answer stays on your device and is not sent to Hahoowa. Under 13, lives are not shown.

This is a declaration on your honour: lying about your age breaks our rules.

If you say you are under 18

Hahoowa accounts are for adults only. If you say you are under 18:

  • straight away, you can no longer go live or top up or spend your balance, and your name is never shown to other viewers;
  • your account is closed 14 days later. We tell you in the app and by email, with the date. Until then, you can download your data from the website’s Settings;
  • if this is a mistake, write to us before that date: once the mistake is corrected, the closure is cancelled;
  • if your balance holds purchases, they are not lost: support helps you get them refunded before the closure.

Protecting children

  • Do not show a child in a live without their parents’ consent, and never in a way that exposes or endangers them.
  • No sexual content involving a minor, real or AI-generated: immediate ban and report to the authorities.
  • Never give a child’s school name, address or phone number in a live.

A child in danger?

  • In France: call 119 (Allô Enfance en danger) or 17 in an emergency; for cyberbullying, 3018.
  • In Morocco: call 19 (police) or 177 (Royal Gendarmerie) in an emergency.
  • Then report the live or the account with the reason Child safety concern or Someone in immediate danger. Without an account, the report form lets you stay anonymous for a minor in danger.

Parents

If your child under 18 has created an account, write to us: accounts are for adults only. The parental controls on their phone (Screen Time and “Ask to Buy” on iPhone, Family Link on Android) can also block in-app purchases.
